I am already in love with California. I love all the palm trees on every street and the beautiful hills; they're so green! I'm from the desert, so everytime I see a really green landscape, I get really excited because it is just totally unfamiliar to me.
My apartment is so nice. It is very safe with gates out of both entrances and exits and 24 hour security people walking around. We have a pool, a gym, a outdoor grill thing, a business center, a basketball court, and a racketball court. It's in a really safe neighborhood and really close to Ventura Blvd, in Studio City. It's also close to Universal Studios and NBC Studios. It's awesome. I have two roommates and share a room and bath with one of them.

This weekend has been packed with orientation and lots of sight seeing! We were sent on a scavenger hunt today as part of our orientation, and got to see all the places we will be working and also lots of famous spots!

Me on my first day of work. Dress for the job you want right? And doesn't that outfit just scream TV executive?
My first day at my internship was very good and eventful. I mostly ran errands. I picked up breakfast for two execs, and then went to the VP of Film Development's house and picked up his mail. Then I was given a list of errands and was told to be back at a certain time. Doable in theory, but not when you're me and have no sense of direction and have been in LA for two days and frequently get lost. I'm Anne Hathaway in the Devil Wears Prada. I'm running around a big city doing errands and freaking out that I won't get tasks done in time. Only difference is I don't get paid and no one in the office is a psycho.
In the intern room, the shelves are stocked with scripts and TV pilots. I was able to read a pilot they just picked up and watch two pilots that will air next month. I feel cool. They also have a kitchen that's stocked and we can eat whatever we want and read any scripts we want and watch any pilots we want. It's perfect! I can't wait to go back tomorrow!
Lauren, you look beautiful! I am so glad you are getting to do what you love. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting Lauren!! You look great and I am so proud of you. You are following your dream. Awesome!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you are cool. :) What a great opportunity! I'm really excited for you. Please remember me when you're a big time TV executive, huh?
ReplyDeleteHow darling! I'm just so unbelievably proud of you!
ReplyDeleteI was privileged to travel with Lauren down to her digs in Studio City and I did check out her place and her employment. I agree that they are safe and she should have a wonderful place to live for 3 months. Lauren, your Mom and I will follow your blog as you spread your wings and take off on your big adventure. Have fun and meet a lot of new people. Remember, in Hollywood, it's all about who you know!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Lauren! I can't wait to hear more about your adventures in California.
